1 Kings 8 – There is no one who does not sin

This whole chapter is the prayer and dedication of the new temple. So much good stuff in there but here was a special nugget:

1 Kings8:46 “If they sin against you – for there is no one who does not sin – and you are angry with them and give them to an enemy, so that they are carried away captive to the land of the enemy, far off or near.”

Solomon’s inaugural sacrifice is so big that the one alter before the LORD is not big enough so he consecrated the middle of the court so they could carry on there with the sacrifice. 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep were offered as peace offerings! All the while Solomon is building the city up, protecting it with a wall, building ships etc.

  1. No one who does not sin… sounds really familiar from what i read today in 1 John 1:8, “If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.” The difference would be in Kings you sacrifice and in 1 John you confess like it says in vs 9. I dont know if this is what you were looking for but im trying this whole blog thing out for you haha.

    1. Thanks for the comment brother. I love any feedback, especially when you start applying what you have read and compare it with other Scripture. Thanks for the encouragement!
