“If there is a God who created the world and created us, you couldn’t relate to Him the way a person in the first story of a building relates to a person in the second story of that building. Rather you would relate to God the way Hamlet would with Shakespeare. If Hamlet wants to prove that there is a Shakespeare, he’s not going to be able to do that in a lab nor is he going to be able to find Shakespeare by going to the top of the stage.
