Are you salty?

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.”
(Matthew 5:13 ESV)

Presupposition
– The world is in decay
– The world is rotten
– The world is going from bad to worse
– The world needs some type of preservation
– the world needs salt

Salt
– as a mineral salt can never become something else
– salt will always be salt
– salt is essential for all human life
– salt is a preservative
– salt stops decay and purification
– salt cannot bring health but only stop further defilement
– salt adds flavor
– salt is unique and distinct
– even in a large medium a small amount of salt can be recognized
– we judge most things on “saltiness” (too salty, not salty enough)

Believers are salt
– believers are to be salt in the world
– believers should have a distinct flavor to their life
– believers lives should have a purifying effect on others
– believers cannot bring health to others only stop further purification
– if your life is not salty what does that reveal?
– what good is your life if you don’t have this saltiness?

    But, don’t you mean “believers cannot bring health to others, only stop further DEFILEMENT???” Hehe.
