1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
“The word of the cross…” – the Greek word for “the word” that is used here is λόγος or logos
logos – a body of truth, totality of truth
“…is folly to…” – the Greek word for folly is μωρία or mōria
mōria – mornonic, foolishness, folly, stupidity,
“…those who are perishing…” – the Greek word used here is ἀπολλυμένοις or apollymenois
apollymenois – apollyon, abbadon, a place of destruction, depths of Hell, bottomless pit
“power of God” – the Greek word for “power” is δύναμις or dynamis
dynamis – dynamite, power source
The body of truth or the totality of truth about the cross has one of two effects of people it is either (1) so foolish and moronic that they would rather perish than believe that body of truth or (2) it is the power source of their salvation. How do you look at the cross?
