Notice there are some conditions to this promise. They must humble themselves (put away pride), they must pray (showing they need Him), and they must turn to God and seek God’s face and they must turn away from their own wicked ways. Notice the turning aspect. You are either turning to sin and away from God or turning to God and away from sin. You can’t have it both ways. If you are turning to God and seeking Him and habitually turning away from sin then this is a great promise for you. If you are turning to sin and away from God then this is a wake up call. You cannot serve both God and sin. They are mutually exclusive and cannot be reconciled. If you are habitually turning towards sin in your life realize that you are turning your back on God. That is not where you want to be. If this is you, repent (which means change of mind or turning) of sin and wickedness that you have been engaging in and turn to God and seek Him and put away pride. May this promise be sweet to you today.
2 Chronicles 7:14 “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
