Isaiah 9 – regarding the coming of the Messiah, Galilee will be made glorious and those in darkness will see a great light.
Then in Mark chapter 1
Mark 1:27-28, the great light is starting to shine bright and it is Jesus. Jesus teaching with authority and His reputation is spreading in Galilee
The book of Numbers opens up with a census. Made me think of the census that David took (2 Samuel 24).
Here in Numbers it is commanded by God to take a census, so not doing it would be sin. But when David does it, it is sin.
It’s always interesting to me when the same act can be both an act of obedience or an act of outright disobedience. Moses and David both committed the same act, they took a census, but the outcome, reasons, and motivations were completely opposite.
Moses in an act of obedience to Gods word took a census. David in an act if sinful pride took a census.
“…for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7b)
