Daily Reading 2.28.14

Psalm 37:7-15
The LORD knows the troubles of my soul

Though all others run away I will trust in the LORD

“My times are in Your hand” v15

Proverbs 6:10-13
It seems from these verse that the lazy person who is poor does not deserve a handout, the author even seems to put the worthless person on the same level as the wicked man.

Mark 6:45-7:23

v 52 “for they had not gained any insight from the incident of the loaves and their hearts were hardened” – how many times has the Lord brought special circumstances in my life to teach me something and instead of gaining insight my heart was hardened

The Pharisees carefully observed the traditions of the elders, unfortunately they didn’t carefully observe the Scriptures. They invalidated the Word of God by their traditions. They taught as doctrines the precepts of men. They neglected the commandment of God to hold fast the tradition of men. They set aside the commands of God in order to keep their tradition. I need to make sure I always carefully observe what God has said and make mans Word come under that, not the other way around.

Sin and defilement come out of the heart. Man is naturally this way. God must remove the heart of stone and give a heart of flesh.

Leviticus 19-20
v2 “…you shall be holy, For I the LORD your God am holy”

The Jews are to make provisions for the poor and foreigner, in how they harvest.

v18 “…love your neighbor as yourself”

In the descriptions of having immoral sexual relations only does homosexual sex receive the added phrase “both of them have committed a detestable act”. Yes all of these immoral relationships are wrong but homosexuality is even a step further.

God tells Israel to beware of the people in the land they are entering because the people of the land practice all of these wicked things and if Israel practices them they will be spewed out of the land just like its current inhabitants are.

The people if God are to be distinctly different from the world.
